These Terms & Conditions apply to SUMA Travel Gift Vouchers issued by SUMA Travel Ltd.
SUMA Travel Ltd is registered in England and Wales under company number 16745343.
By purchasing, receiving or redeeming a SUMA Travel Gift Voucher, you agree to these Gift Voucher Terms & Conditions.
1. About SUMA Travel Gift Vouchers
SUMA Travel Gift Vouchers can be purchased as a gift for another person or for your own future travel.
A Gift Voucher has a monetary value in pounds sterling (GBP) and can be redeemed with SUMA towards eligible travel booked through us.
Purchasing or receiving a Gift Voucher does not itself constitute a booking of travel. No flight, accommodation, cruise, package, experience or other travel service is booked until a separate travel booking is subsequently agreed and confirmed.
Gift Vouchers have no cash value other than as set out in these Terms and cannot be exchanged for cash.
2. Purchasing a Gift Voucher
Gift Vouchers may be available in specified denominations or for a custom value, subject to any minimum or maximum amounts shown at the time of purchase.
Payment must be made in full before a Gift Voucher is issued.
The purchaser is responsible for ensuring that any recipient details and delivery information supplied to SUMA are correct.
Gift Vouchers are intended for persons aged 18 or over. Where travel is subsequently booked for a person under 18, the usual requirements applicable to that travel booking will apply.
3. Delivery
Gift Vouchers may be supplied digitally or, where offered, as a physical voucher.
Any delivery options, charges and estimated delivery times will be shown or agreed before purchase.
We are not responsible for delays or failed delivery caused by incorrect or incomplete information supplied by the purchaser.
If a digital voucher has not arrived when expected, please contact us so that we can investigate.
4. Validity and expiry
Unless otherwise stated when issued, paid SUMA Travel Gift Vouchers are valid for 24 months from the date of issue.
The expiry date will be shown on or supplied with the Gift Voucher.
The Gift Voucher must be redeemed against a confirmed travel booking before its expiry date. The travel itself may take place after the expiry date, provided the voucher was valid when it was redeemed against the booking.
Any unused balance remaining when a Gift Voucher expires will normally be forfeited, subject to applicable law and any exceptional circumstances we agree to consider.
Promotional or complimentary vouchers may have a different validity period, which will be stated when they are issued.
5. Using your Gift Voucher
Gift Vouchers may be redeemed with SUMA Travel towards eligible travel arranged through us.
The person redeeming the voucher will need to provide the voucher code and any other information reasonably required by SUMA to verify it.
A voucher may be used towards the full cost of a booking or as part-payment.
If the cost of the booking is greater than the available voucher balance, the remaining amount must be paid in accordance with the payment terms applying to the travel booking.
Use of a Gift Voucher remains subject to availability of the requested travel and to the terms, prices and conditions applicable at the time the travel is booked.
A Gift Voucher does not guarantee the availability or price of any particular holiday, cruise, flight, hotel, experience or other travel service.
6. Part-payment and remaining balances
Gift Vouchers may be used more than once where a balance remains after redemption.
For example, if a £500 voucher is used towards a £300 eligible booking, the remaining £200 will remain available for future eligible redemption.
Any remaining balance retains the original voucher expiry date. Part-use of a voucher does not extend or restart its validity period.
No cash change will be given where the value redeemed exceeds the amount being paid.
7. Travel bookings made using a Gift Voucher
A SUMA Travel Gift Voucher is separate from the travel arrangements subsequently purchased with it.
When a Gift Voucher is redeemed towards travel, the resulting travel booking will be subject to the booking terms and conditions applicable to that booking, together with any relevant supplier terms and conditions.
Details of deposits, balance payments, amendments, cancellations and any applicable financial protection will be provided as part of the travel booking process.
Purchasing or holding a SUMA Travel Gift Voucher does not itself provide ATOL or ABTA financial protection. Any financial protection applicable to a subsequent travel booking will depend upon the nature of the travel arrangements booked and the arrangements applicable to that booking.
8. Cancellations and refunds of Gift Vouchers
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.
Where you purchase a Gift Voucher online, by telephone or through another distance-selling method and you have a statutory right to cancel, you may exercise that right within the applicable cancellation period.
Where applicable, the statutory cancellation period is normally 14 days. To cancel, you must clearly tell us that you wish to do so. Legislation.gov.uk
Any refund due following the valid exercise of a statutory cancellation right will be made in accordance with applicable law, normally using the same method of payment used for the original purchase. Legislation.gov.uk
A voucher cannot be cancelled for a refund after it has been redeemed in whole or in part, except where required by law.
Once any applicable statutory cancellation period has expired, Gift Vouchers are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash, except where required by law.
9. Cancellation or amendment of travel purchased using a voucher
Once a Gift Voucher has been redeemed towards a travel booking, any cancellation or amendment of that travel will be governed by the terms and conditions applicable to the travel booking.
Cancellation charges may apply and the amount refundable, if any, will depend upon those terms and the circumstances of the cancellation.
Where an amount originally paid using a Gift Voucher becomes refundable following cancellation or amendment of a travel booking, SUMA may normally return that amount as Gift Voucher credit rather than cash, subject always to the customer’s statutory rights and the applicable booking terms.
Using a Gift Voucher towards a booking does not convert the original voucher value into a right to receive cash.
10. Transfers and resale
Gift Vouchers may be given or transferred to another person.
Gift Vouchers must not be resold, offered for commercial resale or exchanged for cash.
SUMA reserves the right to refuse a voucher where we reasonably believe that it has been fraudulently obtained, unlawfully resold, altered, duplicated or otherwise misused.
11. Lost, stolen or misused vouchers
Please treat your Gift Voucher and voucher code carefully.
If a voucher is lost, stolen or you believe its code has been obtained by somebody else, contact SUMA as soon as possible.
Where we can reasonably verify the original purchase and confirm that the voucher balance has not already been redeemed, we may cancel the original code and issue a replacement.
We cannot guarantee replacement or reimbursement where a valid voucher has already been redeemed by another person before the loss or misuse was reported to us, unless we are legally responsible for that loss.
12. Promotional and complimentary vouchers
From time to time SUMA may issue promotional, competition, goodwill or complimentary vouchers which have not been purchased for their stated face value.
These may be subject to different validity periods, redemption restrictions or other specific conditions.
Any additional conditions will be stated when the promotional or complimentary voucher is issued.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, promotional or complimentary vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash or refunded.
13. Corporate Gift Vouchers
SUMA may supply Gift Vouchers to businesses and other organisations for employee rewards, incentives, client gifts or other purposes.
Additional arrangements may apply to corporate orders and will be agreed with the purchaser where appropriate.
Where a voucher is subsequently used by an individual consumer to purchase travel, the applicable terms for that travel booking will be provided during the booking process.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Gift Voucher Terms & Conditions from time to time, for example to reflect changes in law, regulation or the way our Gift Voucher service operates.
The terms applicable to a Gift Voucher will normally be those in force when the voucher was purchased, unless a change is required by law or is beneficial to the voucher holder.
Nothing in this section permits SUMA to retrospectively remove or unfairly reduce a consumer’s existing contractual rights.
15. Our responsibility
We will provide the Gift Voucher service with reasonable care and skill and in accordance with applicable consumer law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
We are not responsible for losses caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, except where the law provides otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you will also retain any mandatory rights and protections available to you under the law applicable to you.
Nothing in these Terms limits any right you may have to bring proceedings in a court available to you under applicable consumer law.
